Got Room?

"And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. 3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.
4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."
Luke 2:1-20 NKJV

Every time I read this passage, verse 7 sticks out to me. The words, "there was no room for them" challenge me. Bethlehem was very busy. The hotels were full and so we find the Savior being born in a manger. I'm able to understand and accept this. But what gets me is the deeper meaning; they had no room for Jesus.

I have to ask myself, "Do I have room for Jesus in my life?" Do you? Do I have room but, it's in the barn of my life? What things keep Jesus from being front and center in my life? I am challenged to look at my life and see if I need to let God clean some things out of my life to make room for Jesus.

What about you? Have you received the gift of Christmas, salvation? Have you opened the door of your heart to receive Jesus? What about today?

"But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12 NLT
