Withdrawl

"But despite Jesus’ instructions, the report of His power spread even faster, and vast crowds came to hear Him preach and to be healed of their diseases. But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer." Luke 5:15,16 NLT

Jesus' ministry had really taken off. He faced the demands and pressures of ministry. What did He do as the demands mounted? He withdrew. He withdrew to places of solitude. Places of alone time to pray with His heavenly father.

In His time of prayer, our Lord found strength, direction, restoration, peace, and blessing in the sweet presence of God.

We face many demands in our lives. The pressures around us can consume our strength and our joy. I was convicted to ask myself, where do I withdraw to? Where do I go to find restoration, strength, direction, and even victory in the battles of life?

Too often we withdraw into ourselves, our addictions, lusts, depression, anything but solitude and prayer.

If the Lord of all life had to make time to be alone with His heavenly father, shouldn't we? What makes us think that we can handle this world on our own strength?
